Lilo ... The Ninja Cat

Image
Lilo my little troublemaker/ninja/adventurer. She is Nina and Oreo's blood sister and she is 3 1/2 just like Nina (of course right?). She is all black and because she has a white spot on her chest she isn't considered a solid black cat. A peculiar thing that Lilo has is her tail. When they found her, she had her tail a bit broken, towards the center and then at the tip, it looks like a bent licorice stick.  Ever since the day I saw the picture of the sisters, as I call them, I knew I would get Lilo because black cats are the hardest to get adopted here in Spain as well as other places. She had blue eyes when she was a kitten, was very playful and would get into places she shouldn't, and then looks at me like “what did I do?” Lilo and Oreo were extremely close as kittens (Nina was more of a lone ranger). Whenever one was sleeping, the other would be cuddled up right next to her. They would always play together and were inseparable. That's why I believe t...

Who is ... Nina

Now that you all know how I ended up with four cats, let me tell you about them one by one. Today, I’ll be telling you about the queen herself: Nina.   My whole life, I have always been surrounded by pets. Guinea pigs, rabbits, dogs, etc. Pets were part of me already and, the moment I moved out of my parents’ place, I instantly felt the need to have pets. I hated not having animals around me so I can play and cuddle with.   I contacted a friend about it, and a few days later, she reached out to me by sending a photo of three kittens in a box that were found in a parking lot. I don’t know who would do such a thing to three innocent little kittens, but, I immediately told her that I wanted them. And Nina was in that little box.    She is and always has been the one in charge. She’s probably the most laid-back one out of all my cats. But, she knows how to boss everyone around, and I must say, it’s quite amusing to watc...

Cat Owner Problems: Chewing on Cables

Image
As pet owners, we encounter a lot of different problems. And when we do, it's normal when we try to look for a solution, which usually involves a Google search. You can usually find the answer to what you are looking for, but sometimes this answer or solution doesn't work for our pets. And when you are a "first timer", then you can start to freak out on what to do. Has this ever happened to you? For me, it was with one of my furbabies, Nina.  Ever since she was a kitten, Nina would love to chew on  any and every cable she could find. Her favorites were the thin ones, like the phone charger ones. I believe I have bought over 15 chargers in these last almost 3 years. As soon as she started doing this I tried to look for ways to make her stop. I asked around to other cat owners, searched online for an endless amount of hours and tried so many things. Maybe a lot of these things have worked for other people, but not for me.  I needed a solution as soon as possib...

The story on how I got 4 cats...part 4

Image
Three cats are more than enough for one person right? Nope. There are never enough cats, I think. Once Luna came into the picture I really believed that was it for me. I was still going to continue helping other cats find a home and help as much as possible in Mas Nou Gats. I was very happy with my three girls, I still missed Oreo but had learned to live with the pain of not having her with me. After seeing various cases of cats and kittens that needed foster homes, I decided that I could help out that way, I knew it wouldn't be easy but I felt I could do it for a bit.  One day, I was scrolling through my Facebook when I see a post from Mas Nou Gats saying they needed an urgent foster home for a kitten that had arrived. He was a special case because his health wasn't the best, and he needed surgery once he was old enough. He was a feral kitten, so he needed someone to help him adapt to human touch and living indoors and such. He seemed like a very cute kitten and at first g...

The story on how I got 4 cats...part 2

Image
On the last post, I explained how I got to know about my 3 girls and how I ended up having them. Now this post today will be a bit heartbreaking and it is extremely difficult for me to talk about it, however, it is part of the story on how I got 4 cats. The girls were doing great. They were eating well, gaining weight and were extremely happy which made me happy. It was such an amazing feeling to come back home from work and see them greet me at the door. And look how cute they were too!  However, all this happiness sadly ended one night when they were around 3 months old. The night little Oreo passed away. As they say, she crossed the rainbow bridge. I won't explain how it happened or add any details but all I can say is that I up to this day, consider it the worse day of my life. I had never, ever felt the pain I felt that night and until this day I remember it as if it was yesterday.  My family came immediately to be with me in this extremely difficult mome...

The story on how I got 4 cats...part 1

Many people ask me why I have 4 cats. Some say I'm insane, some think it is way too many cats for one household. So here is the 4 part story of how I got 4 cats... Whenever someone asks me if I own a pet, my immediate answer is yes, because I love letting people know I have pets. Then the two usual questions happen right after:  " What kind of pet? " " Cats. " " Cats? How many? " At that moment depending on whom I am speaking to, I really struggle to answer at times. When I say I have 4 cats, people tend to react in so many different ways. I've seen people freak out, people laugh, people step away from me, people yell and so on. If I have time I do briefly explain why I have four cats. It's not like I got them all at once nor did I ever plan or think about having four cats at once. So here's the story on how I got 4 amazing cats with me. In the summer of 2015, I was speaking to a friend about missing having pets at home. I was n...
